the Book

A major publication is underway on the work of the noted Tulsa and Dallas architect Charles Stevens Dilbeck. The book will document the hundreds of houses and buildings designed by Dilbeck in Tulsa, from the mid-1920s to 1932, and in Dallas from 1932 until his retirement in 1970. The author is the noted Dallas architect and writer Willis Winters, who has been researching this book for over 25 years. His previous publications include The Guide to Dallas Architecture; Fair Park; Crafting Traditions: The Architecture of Mark Lemmon; Great American Suburbs: The Houses of the Park Cities, Dallas; and The Buildings of Texas Volume 2. Photography for this book will be contributed by Dilbeck’s grandson, Todd MacIntire. The architect’s original drawings in the collection of the University of Texas at Austin Alexander Architectural Archives will also be featured. The Dilbeck Architecture Conservancy is sponsoring the publication of this book and will be celebrating its launch in the near future.
